Julie Hanson’s poetry has appeared recently in 32 Poems, VOLT, Copper Nickel, and as The Yale Review’s “Poem of the Week” on line feature. She has more work forthcoming in Posit, Bennington Review, and once again in 32 Poems. Her work has received fellowships from the NEA and the Vermont Studio Center, and judges’ commendation in the Troubadour International Poetry Prize. A featured poet in the Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature Book Festival in 2011 and again in 2021, Julie holds an MA in expository writing from the University of Iowa and an MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. She is the author of The Audible and the Evident, winner of the Hollis Summers Poetry Prize (Ohio University Press, 2020) and Unbeknownst (University of Iowa Press, 2011) winner of the Iowa Poetry Prize and a Kate Tufts Discovery Award finalist.
