Julie Hanson’s poetry has appeared recently in Copper Nickel, The Yale Review’s “Poem of the Week” on line feature, VOLT, and 32 Poems. She’s had 126 poems published in journals and anthologies and was a featured poet in the Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature Book Festival in 2011 and again in 2021. Her work has received fellowships from the NEA and the Vermont Studio Center, and judges’ commendation in the 2021 Troubadour International Poetry Prize. Julie holds an MA in expository writing from the University of Iowa and an MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and is the author of The Audible and the Evident, winner of the Hollis Summers Poetry Prize (Ohio University Press, 2020) selected by Maggie Smith and Unbeknownst (University of Iowa Press, 2011) winner of the Iowa Poetry Prize selected by Mary Ruefle and a Kate Tufts Discovery Award finalist.
