Ester Naomi Perquin was born in Rotterdam in 1980 and is counted among the leading Dutch poets of her generation. She has published three collections of poetry and won major awards for each of them, including the prestigious VSB prize for her most recent volume, Cell Inspections, largely inspired by the several years she spent working in the prison service. The Hunger in Plain View, a selection of her poetry translated by David Colmer was published in the USA by White Pine Press in early 2017.
