Aleš Šteger

Aleš Šteger is a poet and prose writer from Ljubljana, Slovenia. Štegers books of poems and novels have been translated into over 20 languages. He worked extensively interdisciplinary with composers, musicians, visual artists and filmmakers. In 2011 his poetry book The Book of Things won two major U.S. translation awards (Best Tranalsated Book Award and AATSEL). In 2016 he was awarded the International Bienek Prize for poetry by the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts, in 2022 he received the Swiss Spycher prize, in 2023 the Nuevo Siglo de Oro International Poetry award in Mexico and in 2025 the Prix Max Jacob Etranger in France. He was also awarded the title Chevalier des Artes et Lettres from the French state and is a member of the Berlin Academy of Arts.
