Preludium
In The Odyssey,
the bed is made of a rooted and immovable tree,
a living tree, and all about the sleeping
body are birds.
I had thought we would arrive at a total dwelling-place
where other than human voices
could wake us, a solidarity
across the creatures. Dona nobis the pacem
of this, where
what is and we
are one.
