Katarina Frostenson

Voicegrass and Incantation…translated from the Swedish by Bradley Harmon
March 25, 2023 Frostenson Katarina

Two Poems by Katarina Frostenson translated from Swedish by Bradley Harmon

Voicegrass

Voicegrass

the word the night bore
pulled you out of bed

perhaps the memory of Gullberg
the grass sings for feet astray

a flock out there, voices of the dead woven
without sound like the growth of grass

I am your carpet where you tread

Röstgräs

Röstgräs

ordet natten gav
reste dig ur sängen

kanske minnet av en Gullbergrad
för vilsna fötter sjunger gräset

en här därute, väven av dödas röster
utan ljud som gräsets växt

jag är din matta var du går

Incantation…

Listen up now

In this resonance
my self ceases

in spirals of light

sun-thirst  frost-sieve

down falls the rain
up stands

the light of life
the darkness of living

Formel …

Hör du nu

i ljuden upphör här
mitt jag

i ljus spiral

solentorst   frostensåll

ner faller regnet
upp stiger

livsljuset
levnadsmörkret
