Ilya Kaminsky was born in Odesa, Ukraine and currently lives in New Jersey. His most recent books include Deaf Republic (Graywolf Press) which won Los Angeles Times Book Award and was the finalist for the National Book Award. His translations and compilations of poetry in translations appear widely, including the portfolio on poetry from Odesa, Ukraine in the previous issue of Plume.
